Mindy McCready in Crisis; Enters Rehab After O.D.

Mindy McCready Jeff Frank/ZUMAPress.com

Mindy McCready's hope for a comeback just got pushed back, after a drug and booze binge landed the troubled country songbird first in the emergency room of a Tennessee hospital and then in an Arizona rehab center.

"Mindy McCready did receive emergency care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center," her publicist tells E! News. "Other issues made it prudent for her to seek longer-term and broader-based treatment."

"To her credit," says the singer's publicist, "she has entered into an extended-care facility where she will receive the care needed. And for the moment we ask that everyone respect her privacy."

DMX's Rap Sheet Takes Another Hit

DMX Paul Redmond/WireImage.com

DMX couldn't quite keep up with the Joneses. Or at least with the charade of pretending to be one.

The trouble-prone rapper was arrested (again) in a Phoenix mall Saturday afternoon on suspicion of felony identity theft, stemming from an April hospital stay in which he allegedly used a fake name and Social Security number to avoid paying a $7,500 medical bill.

Police say DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons but who went under the pseudonym "Troy Jones" when he checked in to the Mayo Clinic last spring, was busted while hanging out with a group of friends at Phoenix's Metrocenter mall.

Police, who have been investigating the charge for some months, say an officer ran his name, found the warrant, and arrested him on the spot.

Ed McMahon has come up with a way to ease his financial pain.

The 85-year-old TV icon has sued a number of people connected in one way or another to the 2007 fall that resulted in his broken neck, an injury that he says has required three surgeries and left him unable to work (the main reason he's given for his recent money troubles).

McMahon filed a lawsuit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court charging Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; the hospital's attending ER physician when he was first admitted; the orthopedic surgeon who oversaw his spinal care; and billionaire investor Robert Day and his wife Kelly, the owners of the home where he fell down, with a variety of offenses, including negligence, premises liability, battery, fraud and elder abuse.

Natalie Cole Lisa O'Connor/ZUMAPress.com

Here's a bit of unforgettable, and sadly regrettable, news from Natalie Cole.

The second-generation Grammy winner has revealed that she was diagnosed with hepatitis C during a routine visit to the doctor, a disease she most likely contracted, her doctors say, as a result of past drug use.

"I've been so fortunate to have learned so much from my past experiences," Cole said. "I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends; I am committed to my belief in myself and in abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination."

Village Person on Mend, Exits Hospital

Victor Willis, Village People CBS

It didn't take a village to cure Victor Willis, but it will take a little more time.

The Village People singer, and the group's token policeman, was discharged from a San Diego hospital Monday after undergoing surgery to remove several nodules on his vocal cords.

The erstwhile costumed crooner was ordered to rest his voice by refraining from singing for at least 90 days.

"I feel great and look forward to performing before the end of the year, but I can't say for sure," Willis said.

David Lee Roth Michael Caulfield/WireImage.com

Nothing gets in the way of David Lee Roth when it's time to rock 'n' roll. Not even nuts.

The Van Halen singer is looking to quash a story that circulated last week about him being pulled over in Canada for speeding, only to have the officers realize he was going into anaphylactic shock due to a peanut allergy.

"I was in Canada only from July first through the fourth for a performance at the Quebec City Summer Festival. I had no encounters or incidents with the police. The only thing I'm allergic to is criticism," Roth said in a statement released Thursday.

Well, someone got the story wrong. According to Roth, it was the cops.
