Attention, Shia LaBeouf: Please Call Selena Gomez!
Either Selena Gomez isn't dating Nick Jonas, or Jonas is a really understanding boyfriend.
Gomez, 16, surprised the red carpet press on Saturday night at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Runway for Life benefit when she suddenly shouted, "Let Shia know I'm available!"
She was apparently inspired to make sure everyone knew about her longtime thing for 22-year-old Shia LaBeouf (she's gushed about it in the past) after being asked about her celeb crushes.
The Transformers star isn't the only boldfaced type Gomez would like to meet up with...
Breaking News
D.A.'s Eagle Eye Takes Aim at Shia's Accident
While Shia LaBeouf remains felony-free for his part in July's hand-mangling car crash, prosecutors have managed to pull some blame from the literal wreckage.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office today filed charges against the two people who hit LaBeouf's pickup truck and who allegedly played musical chairs with their story.
Herbert Simon, 22, and Kimberly Bent, 21, were each slapped with misdemeanors for allegedly giving police false information. Per D.A. spokeswoman Jane Robison, Bent initially told police that she was the one behind the wheel at the time of the headline-grabbing smash, but officials believe that Simon was actually the one driving.
In August, Simon was cited for a vehicular infraction for running a red light, not because prosecutors were certain he was in the driver's seat, but because the car was registered in his name.
Fireproof's Hot; Eagle Eye's Bigger
Shia LaBeouf held. Kirk Cameron soared.
LaBeouf scored his fourth straight No. 1 movie with a $29.2 million debut from Eagle Eye, per studio estimates compiled today by Exhibitor Relations.
Cameron's Fireproof, a Christian-themed movie that motivated its Christian base to gobble up advance tickets, bowed in fourth with a strong $6.5 million.
The Dark Knight, meanwhile, finished out of the top 10 for the first time in more than two months. Hollywood's No. 2 movie of all time still managed to take in another $1.7 million, per Box Office Mojo, and push its overall haul to $524.5 million.
Shia LaBeouf's License Hearing Parked
Shia LaBeouf can still drive himself to a screening of Eagle Eye this weekend if he wants.
A hearing to determine whether his license should be suspended in connection with his July 27 car crash, originally scheduled for today, was postponed, according to the actor's attorney.
Authorities contend that LaBeouf—who was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance immediately after the accident—refused to take a blood-alcohol test afterward, an infraction that merits a minimum one-year suspension, per the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The 22-year-old actor was cited for misdemeanor DUI at the hospital based on observations made by officers at the scene. He was never taken into custody or made to pay bail and the L.A. District Attorney's Office opted yesterday not to press felony charges against him.
Shia LaBeouf's No Kirk Cameron
Shia LaBeouf has starred in three straight No. 1 movies. Kirk Cameron hasn't seen his face on a multiplex screen in seven years. Guess who's the hottest ticket heading into the weekend?
Sure about that?
In terms of advance sales, Cameron's Fireproof, an ultra-low-budget marriage-minded family drama opening on about 800 screens, has smoked LaBeouf's $105 million, opening-everywhere thriller Eagle Eye.
Surprisingly perhaps, box-office experts are not surprised...
Update
Shia LaBeouf Mostly in the Clear for Crash
Shia LaBeouf's good fortune continues, but whether he'll be spending some of that fortune on a chauffeur is another question.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has opted not to file charges against the 22-year-old actor in connection with the July rollover crash that left him with a mangled hand.
"We have formally rejected filing DUI charges because of insufficient evidence," D.A. spokeswoman Jane Robison told E! News Thursday. She said that her office expects to file charges against two other people involved in the smashup but no further details will be available until tomorrow.
There was no immediate comment from LaBeouf's camp.
It's not all over for the Eagle Eye star, however. Today's news may come as a relief but there is a DMV hearing set for Friday to determine whether the actor will lose his license for a year for failing to submit to a blood-alcohol test after the crash.
Beat Ben @ the Box Office: Eye on Shia
The boy Shia is a beast at the box office. His last two flicks were Indy Jones and Transformers, both massive hits (and, yes, would have been even if LaBeouf hadn't starred alongside Harrison Ford and Optimus Prime). Before that, though, Shia fronted a little movie called Disturbia which, despite being produced by Steven Spielberg, shocked the industry by holding the No. 1 box-office spot three weekends in a row.
Now Shia's back in another Spielberg-produced flick—his fourth, but who's counting?—and he's paired with Disturbia director D.J. Caruso. A summer movie hidden in a crowded fall slate, Eagle Eye feels like a blockbuster in every sense of the word.
So look for the hits to keep on coming, and for double E to drop $38.7 million this weekend.
What do you think, too low? Way high? Throw your numbers down in the comments and we'll see who owns the B.O.
LaBeouf, Efron: Legends of the Fall?
If all goes well for Hollywood, Shia LaBeouf and Zac Efron will be the new Reese Witherspoon.
The fall movie season begins today. Running through Halloween weekend, the next two months will boast plenty of stars, a good number of Oscar contenders, including Oliver Stone's W., but possibly few, if any, box-office blockbusters.
It's been six years, in fact, since any film released in September grossed more than $100 million, Exhibitor Relations reported this week. The last movie to do so was the Witherspoon comedy Sweet Home Alabama.
"If any film [this] September has a chance to break $100 million," says Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock, "it's Eagle Eye and Shia LaBeouf."
A-List Secrets: How Much Do Megan and Shia Make?
What's the salary range for non-A-listers in movies, people who've been around for a while but are not household names yet (Kristen Bell, Nia Long, Megan Fox)?
—Olivia
First of all, I have to take issue with your science. Nia Long has a longer string of experience than a pliant young punk like Megan Fox. Fox may have luminous eyes that glow like a sexy Gollum, but in terms of her experience, she's in a lesser category.
I point this out because, most likely, they also fall under different pay categories. And just in case I'm about to lose you, I'm also about to mention Shia LaBeouf. (Everybody scream. Eeeee!)
Does his pay fall closer to the Nia Long category or the Megan Fox column? And what is that kind of pay, anyway? Read on...
Other Driver Cited in Shia LaBeouf Crash
The driver on the other end of Shia LaBeouf's DUI crash will have his day in court, as well.
Herbert Simon, 21, has been cited for running a red light, a vehicular infraction that caused his July 27 smashup with the Transformers star.
Authorities are still trying to determine whether Simon was behind the wheel at the time, but Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman Officer Steve Whitmore confirmed to E! News that the young man was issued a citation because it was his car that went through the light.
Shia LaBeouf Heads Back to Work Today
It looks like car-crash victim Shia LaBeouf will be transforming back to an actor today.
Sources tell E! News that Shia, who is still recovering from injuries he sustained to his left hand in an auto accident last month, is scheduled to return to the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on Thursday.
No details were given about the particular scenes the 22-year-old will be shooting, but it's probably safe to say he won't be doing any of his own stunts just yet.
No Amputation for Shia LaBeouf
Forget what you may have read—Shia LaBeouf is not facing any major transformation.
The actor, who sustained a seriously mangled mitt in a rollover accident, is not in danger of losing any of his digits, E! News has confirmed.
LaBeouf's rep is shooting down a Star magazine report claiming the 22-year-old actor informed his Transformers producers that he needed to have his pinky finger amputated.
It's a "completely fabricated story," LaBeouf publicist Melissa Kates tells E! News.
