SATC: A Guide to the Guys
So many men, so little Cosmos to help us forget them all.
With Carrie & Co. gearing up for their big-screen debut, we thought it might be helpful to review some of the great—and not so great—guys who helped put the "sex" in Sex and the City. Read on as we reminisce over Big, Aidan, Berger and more...Exclusive
Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex, Shoes and Miley Cyrus
Sarah Jessica Parker jetted to England a couple of days ago for the start of an almost two-week European tour in support of Sex and the City through London, Berlin and Paris.
But before you think how Carrie Bradshaw it all sounds, you should know she doesn’t like being away from hubby Matthew Broderick and 5-year-old son James Wilkie for too long.
So she has a plan to keep in touch with her little man. "I speak to him probably three times a day, and we have a whole system of staying in touch,” Parker told me over the phone from London. "And Matthew is, I must say, brilliantly handling things. I’m so impressed!"
Sweet, no? So then let's get to the Sex, shall we? Read on for my exclusive one-on-one with SJP. We talk about Mr. Big, her favorite SATC episode and why her son won’t be watching the hit HBO series for many more years to come...
Sarah Jessica's Fashion Emergency
"Aren't we all supposed to be a little bit the victim of trends? I can look back at pictures of myself with the great assurance that I will be embarrassed by about 60 percent of them. This is the nature of fashion—admiring the wrong girl, you know, looking at the wrong picture, wishing you were somebody else. And that's the developmentally correct thing."
—Sarah Jessica Parker to Vogue, on her misguided fashion choices in the '80s
And that's not all the SJP that E! Online has for you today. Make sure to come back for Marc Malkin's exclusive one-on-one with Parker direct from her whirlwind European Sex and the City press tour. Learn what she has to say about her fave SATC episode, reuniting with Mr. Big and when she thinks she'll allow her now 5-year-old son, James Wilkie, to finally watch the sexy series.
Sex in Another City
Sex and the City: The Movie premiered today...but not in New York. Instead, New Line chose to hold the first premiere across the pond in London. (Where Sarah Jessica Parker attempted to blend with the shrubbery in an Alexander McQueen dress, Fred Leighton diamonds and Phillip Treacy hat.)
You'd think they'd unveil the film in the city where it all takes place, the one that's often referred to as the "fifth character," but no...the Big Apple viewing actually doesn't happen until May 27.
And if you're a New Yorker feeling annoyed that the Brits are seeing the movie more than two weeks before you, take heart: They're not premiering the flick in Los Angeles at all.
There is, however, a Skyy-sponsored screening here in L.A. the day before it opens in theaters, along with a postpremiere Q&A with Kristin Davis. You better believe I RSVP'd for that one months ago, so check back for all the details!
Sex Scenes: Sneak Peeks at SATC
Love, marriage, waxing. Admit it, you've missed Sarah Jessica Parker and the women of Sex and the City far more than you can put into words.
So forget about words. Just watch. Check out the trailer for the Sex and the City movie above, and then click in for a look at three (yes, three!) scenes from the film, which opens May 30.
As Carrie Bradshaw once (could have) asked, "Will we still crave Sex if we have to go to the theater to get it?" Check out the clips and tell us in the comments.
Sex and the City Cast: Hey, Where'd Our Clothes Go?
Headlining the Sex and the City movie has its perks: adoring fans, characters that fit like a glove, slipping into the latest fashions and then keeping the clothes. Right? Right?
Not so fast! Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall were shocked—shocked—when they actually couldn't collect their fashionable duds.
"It's in the contract that we get to keep our outfits, which is a fantastic thing, except that, for me, all of my outfits were samples," Davis told E! News this week, at the movie's press day. "I kept my running pants, which I love and wear them a lot, but I was like, Where are my clothes?"
She also kept some shoes and a yellow Biba dress, and the wardrobe department, feeling guilty, snagged her a Chanel bag.
Samantha got the shaft, too, but keep reading to see who did get to keep their duds.
Sex's New Girl Jennifer Hudson Is a Lousy Lackey
Jennifer Hudson is a busy diva. Her new single, "Spotlight," comes out this month, and her album drops in September, but whatever. Big news is that she plays Carrie's new assistant, Louise, in the Sex and the City movie.
Right, assistant. The Idol fave and Oscar winner, talking to E! News at this week's press day for Sex, is totally not used to taking orders. So she did a little research.
To get into assistant mode, Hudson swapped places with her own underling, in character: "I would answer the phone, 'Hello, this is Louise speaking. Can I help you?' "
She's not geek squad material either, despite her character's tech prowess. "I'm not a computer genius like Louise, and I'm not as organized, so don't be fooled," she says.
"You don't want me to be your assistant."
OK! We'll just keep your résumé on file then.
Sarah Jessica Parker Talks Tom, Sex, Sexless Scents
The mysteries of Tom Cruise! Really cold feet! And...perfume you can share with your b-f? Sarah Jessica Parker dished on so many things over the weekend—during the action-packed press day for Sex and the City—that we're not sure where to begin.
OK, the stinky stuff.
With two fragrances already on the market, SJP revealed to E! News that another is on the way. "I have a genderless one that I've been working on for about six months," she said, "and wore it a lot when I was shooting the movie."
Genderless? But what if Matthew Broderick uses it all? Anyway, fragrance, as you might imagine, is important to her. More important, she says, than clothes.
"If I walk out without wearing fragrance, it's my version of being completely nude," she said. "Which, as you know, I never am."
Summer Movie Guide II: Hot Hot Hookups Edition!
Patrick Dempsey is always a bridesmaid, Jennifer Aniston wonders why he's just not that into her, Ashton Kutcher is a catch, Meryl Streep sends out an SOS, Blake Lively and America Ferrera wear the same pants, and Sarah Jessica Parker rules them all.
Facing off against the Spandexed hunks, hulks and heroes of summer comes a bouquet of romances, heartbreaks, BFFs and ABBA covers.
And we've got all your date nights covered with our Summer Movie Guide: Flicks for Chicks preview gallery.
SATC Cast to Oprah: Everything You Think You Know Might Be a Lie
The cast of Sex and the City visits Oprah tomorrow, and though we prayed at our Birkin shrine that the gals would spill some secrets about the upcoming movie, their lips stayed tighter than a pair of half-size-too-small Manolo Blahniks (at least according to today's press release about the upcoming show).
In fact, the SATC cast tells Oprah the stuff we thought we did know might all be lies:
"We would go around and say this is some crazy dream sequence we're shooting today,” Sarah Jessica Parker tells Oprah. “We kept repeating this mantra to try and gaslight people a little bit."
Holy pratfall! Well, they don’t reveal any secrets, but at least the ladies are open about their private lives:
Fergie Sexes Up City Theme: Do You Dig It?
Yeah, we're pretty sure she just said "supercalifragisexy." But it wouldn't be a Fergie song if she didn't mangle and mash up the English language, right?
The Dutchess totally puts her humps all over the Sex and the City theme for the new movie's anthem, Labels or Love, which has just leaked all over the Internet. (More tracks, such as Jennifer Hudson's "All Dressed in Love," are looping on the movie's official site.) We kinda can't stop listening to it—even though we want to.
But what about you? In love yet?
