Update
Janet Jackson out of Hospital, Scraps More Shows
Janet Jackson's field trip to a Montreal hospital was a brief one.
The R&B diva was rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital Monday after she "got suddenly ill during the sound check" prior to her scheduled concert in the city, her rep said.
According to Rebecca Burns, a spokeswoman for the hospital, the 42-year-old Grammy winner "was discharged after a few hours."
Burns declined to elaborate on the singer's condition, citing patient confidentiality rules.
In a brief statement, the singer's publicist did not address her ailment but said Jackson "is recuperating."
Additionally, shows scheduled for Wednesday in Boston and Thursday in Philadelphia have been scrapped.
Jackson is expected to resume her Rock Witchu trek Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Janet Jackson Hospitalized
Janet Jackson is under the control of a doctor.
After she "got suddenly ill during the sound check" for her concert in Montreal Monday, the singer was rushed to a local hospital, according to W&W Public Relations.
Jackson, 42, is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show.
No further information has been released.
Last Friday, Jackson canceled the weekend Detroit stop of her Rock Witchu road show due to "production constraints."
Janet Jackson Votes Herself Off the Island
Janet Jackson doesn't adhere to labels. Not right now, anyway.
A few months after publicly complaining about a failure to properly promote her new album, Discipline, and 14 months after getting onboard, the veteran pop diva has left Island Def Jam, according to her publicist.
"At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship with the popular artist,” Jackson’s rep said in a statement. “Now, more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.
"Always known to break new ground and set trends, Janet's departure from Island makes her one of the first superstar artists to have the individual freedom to promote their work through a variety of avenues such as iTunes, mobile carriers and other diverse and innovative channels."
There was no mention of any looming deal with one of those innovative modes of distribution, but it's something to be on the watch for this year.
Janet Launches Lingerie Line
Janet Jackson's Control-top pantyhose, anyone?
That may not be a product—yet—but the R&B diva is taking a page from Jennifer Lopez's empire-expanding book and has announced plans to launch Pleasure Principle, her own line of lingerie, come November.
This way she'll have no one to blame for a wardrobe malfunction but herself.
"People have come to me with other ideas, but lingerie is a passion for me, and just like music and acting, I can't do it unless I put 100 percent into it," Jackson said.
Court Nixes Fine for Janet's Super Bowl Boob Job
And let's hope this is the last we hear of a certain wardrobe malfunction.
The long-running legal saga involving the escape of Janet Jackson's right breast during the halftime show of the 2004 Super Bowl has apparently come to an end as a federal appeals court today tossed out the $550,000 indecency fine against CBS Corp.
In its ruling, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the Federal Communications Commission "acted arbitrarily and capriciously" when it issued the pricey penalty against the network for the boob slippage.
Casting Couch: Showtime for Matt Perry, Janet Jackson Gets Real, Sopranos Reunite
Matthew Perry is getting gabby.
After a short-lived season on NBC's defunct Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, the Friends alum is rebounding to cable, coming aboard to executive produce and star in The End of Steve, a dark comedy series for Showtime chronicling the ups and downs of an afternoon talk-show emcee.
Janet's Label Jacks European Tour
There are some people Janet Jackson just doesn't want to rock with. Like Europeans. And her record label.
The pop icon has called off the European leg of her heavily hyped Rock Witchu tour, blaming the promotional efforts—or lack thereof—of Island Def Jam Records.
"I'm trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album, so I don't think you're going to hear another single off this album," Jackson told SOHH.com.
Fit for a McQueen
Janet Jackson was at last night’s opening of Alexander McQueen’s new store in Los Angeles. So were Balthazar Getty, Eve, Anthony Kiedis, Ioan Gruffudd and Sex and the City hunk Jason Lewis.
But the spotlight was definitely centered on Beth Ditto and her band, Gossip.
The singer's five-song set was hands-in-the-air fun! She wore custom McQueen: a form-hugging red sequined bodysuit (later changing into a rainbow colored butterfly-printed chiffon number); she swiped cigarettes from fans so she could smoke while singing; she grabbed a photographer’s camera to take some pics and even climbed on top of a very unsteady table to rally the crowd to sing along with her.
But even the 27-year-old has her limits...
GLAAD Tidings in Hollywood
Kathy Griffin sure knows how to yuk it up with her gays.
The redheaded funnylady picked up the Outstanding Reality Program award for her My Life on the D-List last night during the GLAAD Media Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
“I got the Michael Kors dress, the H. Stern jewelry and [stylist] Robert Verdi put me together,” she said. “I didn’t let a straight person near me tonight.”
While there were plenty of yuks throughout the evening, there were just as many serious notes.
