Country's Cagle Cleared of Assault
Whether he deserved it or not, Chris Cagle's little lady ended up doing him a good turn.
The country singer was found not guilty of domestic violence Thursday after Jennifer Tant, who had accused him of roughing her up in May, refused to testify against him.
"Justice was done,” Cagle's attorney, Bill Ramsey, told the Nashville Tennessean afterward. “It was ridiculous that these charges were ever brought."
Both Cagle and Tant were arrested and booked on misdemeanor domestic-assault charges after some verbal sparring at a Nashville bar led to a full-out drunken brawl at Cagle's home, during which Tant supposedly whacked her boyfriend with an umbrella and he smacked her with her own purse.
DMX Pleads Not Guilty, Performs for Press
DMX's apparently never one to pass up a promotional opportunity.
The rap-sheet-laden rapper turned up in a Phoenix courtroom today for arraignment on felony charges of theft and identity theft, and aside from pleading not guilty, he took the time to offer a preview of his new album to the assembled masses.
At an impromptu press conference after the arraignment, DMX touted his forthcoming Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later and offered short rap when asked for comment about his legal predicament, a little ditty that went something like this:
"If you ever fall down, get back up!"

Christian Bale, Wife "Solid" at Knight's Spain Premiere
Christian Bale's family ties are a little loose right now, but his marital relations appear to be holding fast.
Sources close to the Dark Knight star tell E! News that, contrary to new headlines suggesting that his eight-year marriage to Sandra Blazic is on the rocks, "his and Sibi's marriage is solid."
Marital troubles are just one of the reasons being bandied about to explain the seemingly random alleged showdown between Bale and his mother, Jenny, and sister Sharon at a London hotel that resulted in the actor's arrest Tuesday when he turned himself in for questioning.
Nick Hogan to Join the Jailhouse Masses
Nick Hogan is moving into the big part of the Big House.
The wrestling scion, who's currently serving eight months in a Florida jail for a DUI crash that left his passenger irreparably injured, will be moved on July 27—his 18th birthday—from the space he's currently sharing with fellow juvenile offenders into the general population.
Contrary to a TMZ report that he was switching facilities, Hogan, whose real last name is Bollea, is just going to be bunking in another part of the same jail, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jim Borden told E! News Wednesday.
DMX Charged With Identify Theft
It's no wonder DMX might want to be somebody else.
An Arizona grand jury indicted the rapper Tuesday on two felony counts of theft and taking someone's identify for allegedly using a false name to get out of paying a hospital bill in April, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
The 37-year-old, whose real name is Earl Simmons, is said to have tried to pass himself off as "Troy Jones" while undergoing treatment for pneumonia at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.
Cops picked DMX up on an outstanding warrant Saturday at the Metrocenter mall in Phoenix, the Cradle 2 the Grave star's sixth arrest in three months.
Paps Busted for Loitering Near Casa Spears
Even if you're standing where there's only the possibility of a fire, you can still get burned.
Two paparazzi on Britney Spears watch were arrested Monday after ignoring a police warning about being illegally parked on a city-owned fire access road near the pop star's Studio City home.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers spotted Alexander Passos and Eduardo Ravalha, both 35, parked in a restricted area at about 6 p.m.
They were arrested about 45 minutes later when, upon returning to the site, the cops found that the gentlemen had neglected their suggestion to get their shutterbug jollies elsewhere.
Greek Star "Sorry" for DUI, Back on Set
Scott Michael Foster showed his school spirit this week, reporting to work on the very same day he was busted for a DUI.
The star of ABC Family's frat series Greek reported on set early Monday morning "focused and ready to work".
The 23-year-old, who plays Kappa Tau president Cappie on the show, got a DUI early Monday morning at 12:20 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. He was released around 5 a.m., which apparently gave him enough time to hustle over to the set.

Christian Bailed Over Alleged Assault; Denies Wrongdoing
Batman is once again flying free. Which should make the rest of his press tour rather interesting.
Christian Bale has been released on bail after spending more than four hours in police custody at a central London station being interrogated over allegations he assaulted his 61-year-old mom, Jenny, and 40-year-old sister, Sharon, Sunday night.
"Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account
in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police," the actor's lawyers at the high-powered London firm Schillings said in a statement.
"At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."

Batman Bale Arrested for Alleged Assault
Maybe they should have called it The Really Dark Knight.
Batman star Christian Bale has been arrested in London after turning himself in to a police station to undergo questioning on allegations that he assaulted his mother and sister.
The incident allegedly took place in the box-office champ's Dorchester Hotel room in London on Sunday, the day before the blockbuster film's European premiere.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson tells E! News that Bale presently faces "no charges, all we are saying at the moment is that a 34-year-old male attended a central London police station this morning, by appointment, and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.
"He currently remains in custody."
Barenaked Ladies Stripped of Disney Slot
For Disney, it seems sex and rock 'n' roll are one thing—at least when it comes to their younger and fairer stable of talent. But when it comes to drugs, the Mouse House apparently draws the line.
Anticipating as much, the Barenaked Ladies have opted to bow out of the summer lineup for Disney's Music Block Party tour—a series of concerts geared toward families with kids—in the wake of singer-guitarist Steven Page's recent arrest on a cocaine charge.
The group announced they would withdraw from the performance out of respect for Disney, fully aware that the bad publicity wouldn't sit well with the Mickey set.
Greek Star Busted for DUI
Scott Michael Foster is allegedly taking his Greek role a little too far.
The 23-year-old star of ABC Family's frat boy dramedy was arrested early this morning in Hollywood for misdemeanor drunken driving, E! News has learned.

Amy Winehouse's beloved Blake Incarcerated has only just begun to earn his nickname.
A London judge today sentenced the Grammy winner's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, to 27 months behind bars as punishment for his guilty plea for assaulting a pub owner and then attempting to cover it up.
Winehouse was not present in Snaresbrook Crown Court to hear her other half's fate.
